Gombak, 30 November - - The Jungle School Gombak Malaysia (JSGM) together with Eximius Students’ Society organized the Indigenous Art: The Green Jewel of Orang Asli, here today.



The event held at Orang Asli Community Hall, Gombak and attended by the Deputy Rector (Student Development and Community Engagement), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan accompanied by the Group Chief Human Capital Officer Maybank, Madam Nora Manaf, representatives from Conoco Phillips and Officials from IIUM.



The event aims to give continuous support in elevating the Orang Asli’s cultural heritage awareness and uplifting the Orang Asli’s talents towards national and global recognition.



Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli said he is happy to be at an event full with cultural heritage from the Orang Asli community and he hope that someday, the Orang Asli community can come to IIUM and join any programme with IIUM community.



An orchestra performance led by Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MYPO) stunned the audience by their incredible show. Besides, there is also an exhibition on 2-D Weaving and 3-D Weaving of basket. The locals took this opportunity to exhibit their very own woven goods to the community.



The distribution of school bags and dry foods to the community is done by Madam Nora Manaf from Maybank, which is also one of the sponsors together with The Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) and MYPO.



The Jungle School Gombak Malaysia is a leadership experiential empowerment programme which hosted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Norzalifa Zainal Abidin and Major (R) Kalam Pie with the assistance from master craftsmen, weavers and indigenous jungle experts. Jungle school helps to empower the indigenous people in Gombak to share their cultural knowledge and expertise.
