20 Nurul Liyana binti Mohamad Zulkufli liyanazulkufli@iium.edu.my Formal Models and Algorithms for Modelling Human Brain Dynamics based on DNA Computing Hybrid Methods Looking for students (currently or will be) pursuing Masters or PhD to be supervised.

Are you interested in modelling human brain dynamics through the lenses of formal language & automata theory (computer science) and working with brain data & algorithms? Looking for a graduate research assistant (currently or will be pursuing Master/PhD in IIUM) of any nationality. Salary, although in small amount, can be provided for around 13 to 17 months (depends on the amount of salary and the quality of your work).

Modelling human brain is interesting yet challenging due to its complex nature. To date, there is still no single simple formula exists which is proven to fully encompasses all aspects in modelling a human brain – let alone modelling the synchronization in interbrain relation. We propose a novel promising way to model human brain state transition dynamics and synchronization, by combining the fundamental theories in brain connectivity, graph theory, dynamical system, automata theory, and DNA (deoxyribonucleic acids) computing.

The purpose of this research is to develop novel automata for modelling brain state transitions and synchronization. The main objectives of this research are:

 1.       To develop novel variants of automata to model brain state transitions and synchronization.

 2.       To investigate the computational power, closure properties, and complexity of the proposed automata.

 3.       To validate the proposed automata.

 4.       To design efficient algorithms to analyse real human brain data. If you are interested, please feel free to e-mail me. Looking forward for your participation.
