The curriculum of this programme has been developed to meet the needs of those employed in various electronics related professions. This allows students to plan the greater part of the taught element of the program to suit their individual backgrounds and future career development.

Students are required to successfully complete 20 credit hours of coursework and 18 credit hours for a thesis. Of the 20 credit-hour coursework, three credit hours of an Islamic studies course is required. The other five courses (15 credit hours) are department courses related to the specialized area in which students will do a Master's research and prepare a thesis.

Entry Requirements

 

Students must have:

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree with good grades from IIUM or any other institutes of higher learning recognized by the IIUM Senate in the relevant area or
  • Any other certificates that are recognized as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience that is recognized by the Senate in the relevant area.

Language Requirements

Applicants must present:

  • A score of 550 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or
  • 6.0 points in the test administered by the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS).

Alternatively, they may sit for the IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT) and obtain a minimum of 6.0 points to fulfill the English language requirement. Applicants who are unable to submit satisfactory results in any of the above test may take up language proficiency courses at the University to fulfill the admission requirements.
