CCSC AND DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRIC COLLABORATE ON ORGANIZING TRAINING OF PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (PFA) AND SUICIDAL RISK ASSESSMENT

11 June 2021. Counseling and Career Services Centre (CCSC) in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatric, Kulliyyah of Medicine had successfully organized a training of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Suicidal Risk Assessment on 11 June 2021.
The half-day training was conducted for IIUM counsellors (all branches), principals, fellows, staff of the Office of Security Management (OSEM), and students volunteer who will give necessary psychological support to IIUM students who are probably under crisis as well as to empower volunteers with effective helping skills in approaching students who probably who are probably vulnerable.
Four experts from the Kulliyyah of Medicine and Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC) delivered the training covering PFA, Suicidal Risk Assessment, Empathic Communication, and Documenting COVID-19 experience by Psycares. The experts are Asst. Prof. Dr. Rozanizam Zakaria, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nora Mat Zin, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nadzirah Ahmad Basri and Dr. Khadijah Ariff.
At the end of the training, all participants showed their solidarity acknowledging concerns towards the well-being of the IIUM student community during this challenging time as they approached the final examination period.
