IIUM wins five gold awards in Malaysia Technology Expo 2019

Kuala Lumpur  -  IIUM won five gold awards in the Malaysia Technology Expo, which was co-organised by Professional Trade Exhibitions and Meeting Planners and Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) . The event was held for three days from 21 February until 23 February.

One of the five winners, Associate Professor Dr. Ailin Razali, from Kulliyah of Medicine bagged a special award for the local category on his invention, a device and method for hearing protection.

One of the gold award recipients, Prof. Dr. Azura Amid said her products have received offer from a company who is interested to license them, adding that, “the products will be undergoing good manufacturing practice facilities for a better market in the future.”

“This award means so much to me as a senior researcher in INHART. This is one of the reasons why my junior teammate should be active in research,” she said.

Dr. Azura, who represented International Institute for Halal Research and Traning (INHART), received two golds for her products, ‘Bromelain Soy Sauce’ and ‘Anti-cancer Composition.’

4. Assoc. Prof. Dr Afzan binti Mat Yusof - Napier silage formulations fodder conservation for goats during monsoon season

5. Asst. Prof. Dr. Abd Halim Embong – Spherical robot

IIUM Special Award Recipient (MTE 2019)

1. Assoc. Prof. Dr Ailin binti Razali - A Device and Method for Hearing Protection

A total of 18 inventors from the Research Management Centre (RMC) participated in the exhibitions including versatile reading kiosk, maqasid al shari’ah cyber security barometer and plant fibre based burger patty toward global healthy plate.

Not only competing with other local universities such as Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, but also up against other international inventors including Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) Iran, King AbdulAziz University of Saudi Arabia and DA.AI Technology Co., Ltd.

MTE is an annual event, well-known for the innovation circuit especially in Asia, and for those who thrive on the business of inventions and innovations. ***
