Gombak, 2 September 2021. The mission of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws is working towards just laws and just legal systems through harmonisation of Shari’ah and Law which is championed by balanced graduates. The harmonisation of Shari’ah and law is integral to the Kulliyyah including its curriculum as shown in the integrated curriculum of its Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Laws (Shari’ah)(Honours) and the postgraduate programmes such as the Master of Comparative Laws and the Master of Administration of Islamic Law (LLM(AoIL)).
Recognising the need to intensify the discourse of the raison d’etre of the Kulliyyah, the Harmonisation of Shari’ah and Law Unit which is led by Prof Azizah Mohd organises the Roundtable Discussion on Harmonisation of Shari’ah and Law: Issues and Challenges. The Director of the organising committee is Professor Najibah Mohd Zin.
Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws in officiating the event, invites participants to contemplate the life of its namesake –Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Ahmad Mohamed Ibrahim – whose formal education in common law from University of Cambridge did not stop him in championing the cause of harmonisation of Shari’ah and law.
Those who follow the footsteps of Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Ahmad Mohamed Ibrahim, particularly the graduates of the Kulliyyah with his namesake should continue his clarion call. Organising and participating in the Roundtable Discussion is one of the many more tasks in ensuring his enduring legacy.
