Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS) had organised a yearly programme, Ibadah Camp for its staffs to instill the importance of spiritual enhancement together with physical enhancement as complimentary to the worldly and other-worldly (al-dunya wa al-akhirah) success (falah).
We live in a world full of challenges and obstacles demanding spiritual enhancements and preservation of social relationship. Especially in the vibe of post COVID-19 in which uncertainties, stress, financial breakdown and problems may jeopardize the level of spiritual, physical, and mental well-being.
Therefore, this year of 2020, KAHS Ibadah Camp module offered a concerted effort on dealing with social realities in the broader context of human and nature. The module comprised of gardening project, spiritual talks, and mental health enrichments. The theme for Ibadah Camp 2020 was “Social Realities and Islamic Ideals”.
On 14th – 15th September 2020, MyUlam Gardening Project were successfully held at MyUlam Garden, KAHS. The staffs were divided into 10 groups and each group was given a gardening plot to plant their ‘ulam-ulaman’ (Malay salad) and edible vegetables. But before the activities started, Dr. Mohd Syahmi bin Salleh from Department of Plant Sciences, Kulliyyah of Science were invited to convey a talk on ‘How to start and maintain your garden?’ in order to share the knowledge among the staff of KAHS.
The second event, spiritual talks which was held on 24th and 25th September, seven notorious speakers were invited to complete the programme who were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abderazak Hashi (Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM), Ustaz Abdullah Bukhari Abdul Rahim (Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development, IIUM), Dr. Haji Mohd Farid Ravi bin Abdullah (Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor), Dr. Jaysuman bin Pusppanathan (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Ustaz AbdulRahman AlOsman (Centre of Foundation Studies, IIUM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Muzaffar Ali Khan Khattak (KAHS, IIUM), and Dr. Mohd Yusof bin Mohamad (KAHS, IIUM).
The closing of Ibadah Camp was filled with Mental Health Forum (held on 9th October) where two renowned speakers were invited, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rozanizam Zakaria (Psychiatrist, Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM) and Dr. Kamarul Bahyah Mustafa (Author, ‘Aku Tidak Mahu Mati Macam Itu’).
