In line with the university’s Zero Hunger program under Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the ICT Department has taken this opportunity to organize a charity program called Iftar for Students. Basically, this program initially aims to provide only 300 packed food and drinks to CFS students for their iftar. But Alhamdulillah we managed to collect many contributions in terms of cash and foods. As a result, we managed to prepare 732 packed of food for students on campus.
Through this program, the department intends to strengthen good ukhuwah among staff and students, with the hope that the food may reach the needy ones. It is also hoped that the students will feel that lecturers, teachers and administrative staff are attentive for their welfare and needs. The ICT organizing committee and other participants will also have a strong bonding In shaa Allah by working together in order to make this event a successful one.
In conjunction with that, on Tuesday, 5th May 2021, ICT Department has successfully organized a program named ‘Iftar for Students’. Packed foods including rice, mineral water, bread, dates, chocolate etc were distributed to the students. A part from that packed food, 171 packed foods were reserved for students that staying in Mahalah Umamah. The representative from Mahallah Umamah had come and collected the food, handed over by the Programme Manager, Sr. Rohayah Ruslan.
Strict SOPs were adhered by staff and students during the event where they were needed to scan MySejahtera QR code, wear face mask, use hand sanitizer and ensure physical distancing within each other.
Among the objectives of the program are:
- To reach those in need and make the students happy to receive packed food for iftar.
- To make the students feel more comfortable with the academic and administrative staff.
- To gain spirit of volunteerism among CFS IIUM staff especially ICT staff.
- To gain spirit of volunteerism among students. There were eleven helpful and cheerful students volunteer for this program.
- To enable ICT staff to contribute in terms of money, energy, ideas and time for the benefit of students and the CFS community.
- To strengthen the ukhuwah among staff by working together for a successful event. We received a lot of contribution in terms of money and food from other Academic and Administrative staff too.
The programme started at 3.00pm when the caterer delivered the foods to CFS. The staff were working together to pack the food in plastic bag. Eleven students were helping us in packaging and arranging the packed food at the ground floor of Ibn Sina building. It was a great help to us because there were more than 700 packed food on that day. At 4.00pm the students started to come over to get their packed food. Alhamdulillah before 5.30pm, all foods have been distributed to the students.
CONCLUSION
Through the Iftar For Students program, we certainly can see that not only the students who received the food were really happy but those volunteer students too. They truly wish that this kind of program will be held again in the future. They indeed like the food!!
The ICT department hopes that this program can bring positive impacts to CFS students as well as to the entire CFS community. Islam always encourage us to help others as much as we can, so this program is a part of istiqamah in charity and doing good deeds. The department also believes that this program will spark other departments or units in CFS IIUM to continue this charity work.
Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have generously donated and contributed for this event. Only Allah will reward your goodness.
