IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON) would like to congratulate our Malay Debaters for their achievements at the Pertandingan Debat Terbuka ASTAR 2018/2019 held from 25^th – 28^th January 2019 at University of Malaya.

IIUM has sent three (3) teams to the tournament (1 senior team & 2 junior teams). IIUM Junior Team A emerged as the 1st Runner-up of the Junior Category while IIUM Junior Team B reached the semi-final of the competition. The details of the students are as follow:

IIUM JUNIOR TEAM A (1st Runner-up)

2.   Ahmad Muzakkir bin Muhamed Zamri (IRKHS)

3.   Amer Hazem bin Haron (AIKOL)

4.   Nurul Syafiqah binti Ariffin (AIKOL) 

IIUM JUNIOR TEAM B (Semi-finalists)

1.      Muhammad Zaid bin Abu Hassan Kusaheri (AIKOL)

2.      Mohammad Hussaini bin Mohammad Rozi (AIKOL)

3.      Irham Husna binti Mohd Nadzri (AIKOL)

4.      Nur Saiyidah Nafisah Binti Zaharuddin (KIRKHS)

The debaters’ individual achievements are as follow:
1.      Irham Husna binti Mohd Nadzri (AIKOL) – 3^rd Overall Best Speaker
2.      Zhilal bin Adnan (AIKOL) – 4^th Overall Best Speaker  

We would also like to
congratulate the team from CFS A for breaking third rank after 6
preliminary rounds and proceeded to the quarter-finals. The team
consisted of the following students:

1. Muhammad Wafi Anwar bin Roslan (LAWS)

2. Nur Amyra Ashiqin Binti Zainoel Abidin (LAWS)

3. Muhammad Ilham Hafiz bin Azmi (LAWS) 

4. Che Aidil Erfan B. Che Afero (LAWS)

Br. Muhammad Ilham Hafiz has also emerged as the second overall best speaker of the tournament
