Student Union Guidelines Preparation Workshop (Bengkel Pembangunan Garis Panduan Kesatuan Pelajar) was a four-day workshop that successfully held from Friday, 12th July 2019 to Monday 15th July 2019 at Wadi Budi's Main Auditorium, IIUM. The workshop was organized by the Department of Higher Education (Holistic Student Division) while IIUM had the honor of being host of the workshop. Approximately 80 students from 20 public universities around Malaysia participated in this event. Among the distinguished guests who graced the ceremony were Dr. Zaid Omar, Director, Department of Higher Education (Student Holistic Division), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Rector (Student Development & Community Engagement) and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Deputy Rector (Student Affairs and Alumni), University Malaysia Pahang.

IIUM has been piloting the Student Union establishment from its beginning until now. Several events in relations to Student Union have been organized  and the workshop was the fourth. In line with IIUM's motto “Leading the Way”, the university strives to being the leader students and other universities in embracing the spirit of student empowerment; where students voices and ideas are heard and their decision-making skills are put to practice for the betterment of the community inside and outside the campus.
