World Glaucoma Day 2019

The World Glaucoma Day (WGD) is an annual day event held March every year. The WGD focuses on raising awareness of glaucoma. Glaucoma is a group of four disease which affect eyes and eyesight in different ways. It is caused by damage to the central nerve from the eye, which leads to varying degrees of lost vision, sometimes patchy or blurry vision, and in less common cases, loss of central vision. 

Glaucoma mainly effects middle age to older people but anyone of any age can suffer from it. If left untreated, it leads to gradual worsening of vision or blindness.

The Department of Ophthalmology, Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) had organize the above-mentioned program internally for our staff. The program was consist a series of discussions on World Glaucoma Day in clinic and department level.
