Master of Human Science in Political Science

The Master of Human Sciences in Political Science emphasizes an infusion of Islamic values in conventional approaches to Political Science. The programme upholds the concept of unity of knowledge as rooted in the cardinal principle of Islam, i.e., Tawhid (divine unity). It also strives for excellence in research and critical approach to problem-solving from an Islamic perspective.
Programme Description
The Master of Human Sciences (Political Science) programme aims at producing graduates who can demonstrate masterful grasp of complex theories, ideas and other scholarly contributions in the area of Political Science and produce original research that extends the boundary of knowledge in the discipline. The programme basically requires two years of full time study or four years on a part time basis.
Entry Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree with good grade from IIUM or any other accredited institutions of higher learning, or other certificates that are recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional qualifications and experience that are recognized by the Senate of the University.
- Applicants are required to obtain the following Arabic and English proficiency levels:
Minimum score on IIUM's: Arabic Placement Test (APT) | Minimum: TOEFL / IELTS |
7.0 | Paper based: 550 IELTS - Band 6 |
Note: Students are required to provide evidence of English proficiency by submitting their proficiency certificates before the beginning of the programme. If they fail to do so, they will be required to sit for the IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT).
