M.IRKH. in Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion

The programme offers courses to produce graduates imbued with Islamic ethical and moral values to promote understanding among the various communities, maintain social harmony, and apply moderation in contemporary religious discourses. It meets the needs of global importance such as providing proper understanding of the worldview of Islam and those of other religions which can aid in the endeavours to promote global peace and harmony.

The programme requires the completion of 40 credit hours, which are divided into core, specialization and elective courses and a dissertation. In this programme students are exposed to issues related to Islamic aqidah, analytical study of other religions from the perspective of Islam and contemporary issues affecting the Muslim society.

Entry Requirements

  1. A relevant Bachelor’s degree with good grade from IIUM or any other accredited institutions of higher learning, or other certificates that are recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional qualifications and experience that are recognized by the Senate of the University.
  1. Applicants are required to obtain the following Arabic and English proficiency levels:

Minimum score on IIUM's

Arabic Placement Test (APT)

Minimum TOEFL / IELTS

7.0

               Paper based: 550

                 IELTS - Band 6

Note: Students are required to provide evidence of English proficiency by submitting their proficiency certificates before the beginning of the programme. If they fail to do so, they will be required to sit for the IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT).
