This programme aims to produce critical thinkers and specialists with a high degree of intellect that will contribute to the integration of knowledge based on Islamic and conventional concepts as well as applications of information technology in marketing.

In 2010, the Department will be achieving yet another milestone with the introduction of the Master of Science in Marketing in 2010.  This programme aims to provide students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge that integrate Islamic concepts and values to enable them to become competent practitioners in marketing. In developing this programme, the Department relied on its key strength in the areas of e-marketing, service marketing and marketing of financial services.

The Master of Science in Marketing programme comprises of 42 credit hours made up of 30 hours of coursework (18 hours of core courses and 12 hours of electives) and 12 hours of dissertation.

A student is required to attain a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

 

DISSERTATION

After completing all the courses, students will proceed with a dissertation before they can graduate. The dissertation proposal will be developed in their MHTG6140 Marketing Research . Once they have presented their dissertation proposal and the proposal is subsequently approved by the Department Postgraduate Committee, they may proceed with their research under the supervision of the assigned supervisor(s).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A relevant Bachelor's degree with good grades (CGPA 3.0) from an accredited instituion of higher learning or any other certificates recognized to be equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and with relevant professional experience.

 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the Kulliyyah requirements, an applicant must produce satisfactory proof of proficiency of English Language by :                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • The Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550 or
  • The International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) with a score of 6.0 or
  • The IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score 6.0.
