Programme Description
The PhD in Accounting programme comprises of 12 credit hours of coursework (4 courses) and 60 cedit hours of thesis. These four courses are to be completed within the first year of the programme.

In addition students have to take two other courses, one related to research method (either Qualitative Research or Quantitative Methods) and another one (3 Cr. Hrs.) accounting related course from the elective courses of M.Sc. in Accounting programme.

PhD Thesis
Students will proceed to do research once they complete all the courses. At the research stage, students need to prepare and defend their research proposals. Once the proposals approved, the candidates will continue with their research. The final research work (thesis) needs to be defended in a viva voce.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A relevant Bachelor's degree with good grades (CGPA 3.0) from an accredited instituion of higher learning or any other certificates recognized to be equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and with relevant professional experience.
A relevant Master's degree (CGPA 3.0) from an accredited institution of higher learning.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the Kulliyyah requirements, an applicant must produce satisfactory proof of proficiency of English Language by :
The Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550 or
The International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) with a score of 6.0 or
The IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score 6.0.
