START-UP WEEKEND, IIUM Kuala Lumpur

On 30th March 2018 to 1st April 2018 Kulliyyah of Engineering, led by Dr Nabilah Ramli and team, has organised first Start-up Weekend at KoE, IIUM.
Start-up Weekend is an event organised by Enginepreneur Bureau, ENGINIUS XXIV and Techstars where participants were immersed in an ideal environment where they experienced what it takes to create a new start-up. 29 students participated and 10 business ideas were developed and coached by invited mentors during the 54 hours event.
The coaches and mentors are:

Badrul Hisham- Founder of Synapsis

Muhamad Nor Syamil Mazlan – Co-Founder Zech Education Technology
Ainor Syahrizal – Founder of Isian Company
Wan Nur Zulaikha Wan Zulkifle – Same Skies (support displaced communities of refugees and asylum seeker.
The culmination of the weekend was a 5 minutes business pitch in front of invited judges, and the winners are:
1. Winner: Muhammad Hafizuddin Hamid (Level 2- CIE)
Project: Reban Ayam Wangi (RAW) - Cleaning device for poultry farm
2. 2nd place: Syed Mohd Albaqir Syed Mohd Yusoff, Mohd. Aiman A Zani, Azrul Husaini Ahmad (Level 4 - AUTO)
Project: I- Clean - Hybrid air purifier and freshener for cars
3. 3rd place - Aimi Atiqah D Azman, Norsyafira Selamat (Level 4 - MANU)
Project: The Murality Project - Empowering underprivileged children through mural projects
4. Special mention: Mohd Syafiq Mortada, Nur Syarafina Rosli, Husna Azman (Level 4 - AERO)
Project: Juh Nait - Platform for matching travellers with SMEs in tourism industries
5. Special mention: Muhammad Faiz Bin Mohd Rafdzi, Muhammad Zhafir Ibrahim, Azrin Saedi (Level 3, CIE)
Project: Chicken Egg Incubator
We would like to congratulate to the winners and all participants. The mentors and judges were impressed with their enthusiasm and ideas. The top winners (6 students) have been nominated by the Kulliyyah to join JCAP organised by EDC, IIUM. We hope the university will support them to continue their steps towards becoming an entrepreneur, insyaAllah.
Also involved in the event were Dr. Atiah Sidek, Dr. Mimi Aminah and Dr. Khairayu Badron (alumni of IIUM) and also Dr. Syamsul Bahrin.
