Islamic Finance Education Cluster Participation in the Global Islamic

Finance Forum  (GIFF) 2012

                                                               

 
Bank Negara Malaysia has recently hosted the third Global Islamic Finance Forum(GIFF) in Kuala Lumpur from 18th to 20th September 2012. GIFF 2012 is themed "Internationalisation of Islamic Finance: Bridging Economies" in recognition of the tremendous international prospect surrounding the thriving Islamic Finance industry.
 
The forum will also featured financial industry practitioners, regulators, Shariah scholars and business communities from around the globe to discuss the prospects for Islamic finance in bridging economies and strengthening connectivity. This event was organised in collaboration with the Securities Commission Malaysia, Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and Bursa Malaysia.
 
The Islamic Finance Education cluster  (EPP7) participated in this  event by  launching of  the  “ Curriculum and Talent Development on Islamic Finance Education for Institutions of Higher Learning”  officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin.
 
The International Islamic University Malaysia jointly co lead this cluster with Bank Negara Malaysia. The remaining six are  Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM), University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UnsZA), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Insaniah University College (KUIN) and Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS).The cluster’s mission is to leverage on Malaysia's strong position in Islamic Finance to develop the nation into one of the world’s leading Islamic Finance Education hub.
 
The objective of the forum is to undertake initiatives in developing comprehensive curricula and a pool of talents in Islamic Finance Education.
