Expert Profile
Dr. Malik Arman Morshidi graduated from Western Michigan University, USA, in 1999 with a BSc in Computer Science. Following his graduation, he commenced his career as a Systems Engineer at MacroHard AUM Sdn Bhd. Subsequently, in 2000, he joined Office Equipment and Communication Sdn Bhd (OEC) as a Systems Analyst, working directly under the supervision of the Software Team at Unit Bisnes Fasiliti, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Petaling Jaya. In 2001, he became a Software Engineer at Irhamna IT Sdn Bhd (IIT). During his tenure at both OEC and IIT (both TNB vendors), he played a key role in developing and managing various software development projects for TNB. He received Certificate of Excellence from OEC, recommended by Unit Bisnes Fasiliti, TNB, for his excellent software project completion and management. Transitioning to the academic field in 2003, he joined the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as an Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering. He earned his MSc in Computer Systems Engineering from the University Putra Malaysia in 2007. His project, involving the invention of an Autonomous Mobile Robot for Plant Watering, received a silver medal award at Pameran Reka Cipta, Penyelidikan dan Inovasi, UPM 2006. He contributed to the development of the robot's vision system and participated in the Field Robot Event 2006 competition held at Universitat Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, where his team secured the first place in the Free Style session. While serving as a lecturer at IIUM, he took on the role of a coach for the team of programmers representing IIUM at the International Programming Competition in Beijing, China, in November 2005. In 2013, he completed his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Warwick, where one of his research papers won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Smart Sensors and Application 2015. During his Ph.D. studies, he co-researched a project with Jaguar Land Rover Coventry, UK, focusing on onboard pedestrian detection and terrain detection. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor at IIUM.
