Expert Profile
Ibrahim Shogar is Assoc. Prof. Dr. of philosophy of science at Kulliyyah of Science IIUM. He is a Researcher, Author and Advisor, focused on philosophy of science and ethics in science and technology. He majored in Shari`ah and law from Al-Azhar university- Egypt; then obtained his PhD in Islamic philosophy of science at (IIUM) in 2003, where he especially worked to develop the concept of “Divine Patterns in Nature and in Human Phenomena from Qur’anic Perspective”, “al-Sunan al-Ilahiyyah fil al-Qur`an”. Beside his teaching career, currently Dr. Shogar is working to develop his research project on “Systemic Approach on the Book of Life” which granted by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. He also works as head of the University Core Courses. He was an organizer of “Forum of Religio-Scientific Discourse” (FoRSD). Dr. Shogar was invited to deliver talks by International institutions, such as King Saud University, Saudi Arabia and the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture, Turkey. He is a member of “IIUM Research Ethics Committee” (IREC); besides, he was “Coordinator of Islamization and Integration of Knowledge” at Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM. Having published over 50 peer reviewed journal articles, International conference papers, and books, Dr. Shogar has received many certificates of honor and letters of appreciation. He also serves as reviewer and assessor to international Journals. Due to quality of his works, Dr. Shogar was awarded “Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz Prize for Best Research Award” by King Saud University - Saudi Arabia; and he also received “Lamia aL-Faruqi Award for Academic Excellence” by IIUM.
