Dr. Illyani worked as a GIS Analyst providing analysis on Kota Marudu floodplain for four years with an engineering consultant. Currently, she is a lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning in the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design.
The theme of her research is on spatial environmental problems, specifically in applied climatology and urban heat island.
