IIUM-MATERIALS LECTURE COMPETITION 2019 (IIUM-MLC 2019)

Alhamdulillah, Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering Research Unit in collaboration with Kulliyyah of Engineering had organized IIUM-Materials Lecture Competition 2019 (IIUM-MLC 2019), in which, the main objectives is to select a winner that will represent the University in the National Level MLC 2019 competition which will be held in University Teknikal Malaysia, Malaysia in April 2019.
The contestants are required to give a 15-minutes presentation on a topic related to the following areas of interest (but not limited to); Materials Development, Characterization, Processing and Applications, Minerals and Geologically related disciplines. 12 contestants from various departments in KOE participated in semi-finals and judged by Prof. Md Abdul Maleque, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ma'an Fahmi Rashid Al-Khatib and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mimi Aminah Wan Nordin. 5 finalists were then selected (Sr. Sarah Amalina Bt Adli – BTE, Sr. Nur'Aishah Binti Ahmad Shahrim – MATR, Br. Suaib Al Mahmud – AUTO, Sr. Nurul Nadiah Binti Sahir – MATR and Sr. Fathin Iliana Binti Jamhari – MATR) to compete in the final competition.
The Final competition was held last Thursday (21st Feb 2019) and it was welcomed by the HOD (MME), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abd Rahman and officiated by the Dean of KOE, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail. In his speech, Dean emphasize on two main components of KOE graduates attributes (problem solving and communication skills) which articulately related to this competition.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Astuty Amrin (UTM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ma’an Fahmi Rashid Al-Khatib (IIUM) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yose Fachmi Buys (UM) judged the final competition. Sr. Nur'Aishah Binti Ahmad Shahrim won the first place and will be competing in National Level, followed by Br. Suaib Al Mahmud (second) and Sr. Nurul Nadiah Binti Sahir (third).
We hope and pray that IIUM will win in National Level and represent Malaysia and compete at the Young Persons’ World Lecture Competition (YPWLC) Organized by IOM3 UK in London this coming July.
