Expert Profile
Dr. Hasmawati is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia. She graduated with B. Eng (Hons) from the same university in 2006. In 2007 she went to the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, to pursue her Master’s Degree after receiving a scholarship from the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) and graduated in 2010 from the Department of Mechano-micro Engineering. She completed her Ph.D from the University of Loughborough, United Kingdom, in 2017, researching highly redundant actuation systems for the development of fault-tolerant actuation systems for application in aircraft ailerons. She is a member of international and national professional bodies of the IEEE, IET, and BEM. Her research interest is predictive maintenance algorithms, fault-tolerant actuation systems, and portable and IoT-based sensing methods. Currently, she is involved as a co-researcher for a few industry-related projects involving companies like DS7 Resources Sdn. Bhd., Akar Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd., JUWARA Resources & Trading, and Delloyd C&C (M) Sdn. Bhd. She is also actively involved with community service projects teaching STEM and robotics to B40 school kids
