Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Honours)

The Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (BMathSc) programme, offered by Department of Computational and Theoretical Sciences, has a minor critical component in Islamic Revealed Knowledge in addition to the core Mathematical Sciences subjects. The goal is to generate responsible mathematical scientists who would contribute to nation-building and be the pride of the Ummah.
Programme Description
The degree programme in Mathematical Sciences is aimed at developing versatile graduates who are able to think critically and creatively in order to analyse situations, organise information and devise solutions to complex problems at the workplace.
There are six areas of concentration:
- Computational Mathematics
- Optics
- Operational Research (Currently not available)
- Statistics
- Financial Mathematics
- Pure Mathematics
Programme Structure
Level of Studies : Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (BMathSc) Duration : 4 years (or 3 Years and Half)
A student must successfully completed at least 134 credit hours (CH) of course work, consisting of the University (20 CH), Kulliyyah (9 CH) and Department requirements and Co-curriculum (3 CH).
Entry Requirements

A pass at the GCE level with credits in
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics
Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the University.

Pass in the English Placement Test (EPT) conducted by IIUM or has evidence of IELTS or TOEFL qualification:
