Expert Profile
Rajabi Abdul Razak holds Doctor of Philosophy (Built Environment) from Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia. She also holds MA of Art History and Cultural Management from University of Technology MARA (UiTM) with distinction in 2009 and Bachelor Degree in Textile Design from the same University in 2003. Currently, she is a lecturer in the Department of Applied Arts & Design, Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design, International Islamic University Malaysia.
She joined the Conservation and Research Centre at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) in August 2003 where she underwent a six month intensive training in Conservation. After completed her training, she was attached to the textile unit, organic laboratory. Her responsibilities included examination, restore and conserve of the museum collection especially textile, wood and Malay manuscripts objects. Her practical experience also covers a wide range of materials such as paper, pigment and inks. In 2006 till 2010, she joined International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), as a part time lecturer at the Department of Applied Arts and Design and taught Conservation majoring students before pursue her PhD in 2011.
In 2009, she involved with restoration project of Selangor Royal Ceremonial Carpet in Selangor Palace, Kuala Lumpur. She and the team are responsible in restoring and conserving the textile materials where the object is very fragile and in a weak condition.
