The Inter-Asasi Games 2019 drew to a close on Saturday 26th January 2019, with Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) International Islamic University Malaysia(IIUM) emerging as runner up of the overall medal tally. This event was held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu from 23rd to 26th January 2019.
During the event which was held for 3 days, CFS contingent managed to secure 6 gold medals including the most sought-after medal, football.
The other golds were secured in male lawn bowl (1 gold), male volleyball (1 gold) and archery (3 golds) which made CFS second after Majlis Sukan Matrikulasi Malaysia (MSMM), the overall champion of IAG 2019 with 11 gold medals.
In the third place was Pusat Asasi Sains Pertanian, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with 3 gold medals.
For silver, CFS contingent bagged home 2 medals in female lawn bowl and male futsal respectively. Our contingent also managed to add 4 more bronzes to CFS medal tally, each in male double badminton, women netball, male individual petanque and male chess.
Overall, CFS contingent managed to collect 12 medals. Despite the limited time for training, having to travel everyday from Gambang to Kuantan campus after their classes between 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m., the contingent’s determination and commitment have lifted CFS IIUM’s name among the UAs.
CFS would like to extend its heartiest congratulations to all the athletes for their achievement as the runner up of the Inter-Asasi Games 2019.
