CFS Sejahtera Green Campus Project: Pineapple Planting Workshop
CFS IIUM, GAMBANG - on 31st March and 1st April 2021, Mahallah al-Biruni in collaboration with Lembaga Perindustrian Nanas Malaysia (Pahang) (LPNM Pahang) has conducted “CFS Sejahtera Green Campus Project: Pineapple Planting Workshop” at Mahallah al-Biruni green compound. This programme was officiated by the Dean of CFS, Tuan Haji Murshid Kassim and attended by Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Community Engagement, En Taifunisam Taib, Principals of Mahallah, Heads of the Department, Lecturers and Staff of CFS IIUM.
The two-day workshop covers on both theory and practical aspects of pineapple planting. The theory session was conducted by En. Muhammad Fauzan Mohd, Director, LPNM Pahang and was attended by 112 participants physically at Multipurpose Room, CFS Library, as well as via online platform.
On the second day, the practical session was led by En Nordi Firdaus bin Darudin and En Mohd Shahril Bin Mohd Shukri, officers from LPNM (Pahang). A total of 68 participants comprised of 35 staff and 33 students joined the hands-on session. During this session, participants were exposed on how to treat and plant pineapple saplings correctly in the polybags. For this practical session, LPNM (Pahang) has provided 500 pineapple saplings to be planted around the campus compound.
It is hoped that this strategic collaboration between the government agency and the university will nurture sejahtera values among the CFS community members and at the same time making the campus green.
