Malaysia SISWASAT Competition 2019
In February, 2019, Malaysia SISWASAT competition, organized by Angkasa and sponsored by Sapura, is opened for higher education institutes. In this competition, the students are required to design, build, and test a SiswaSat satellite (a type of CanSat) that performs basic tasks similar to artificial satellites. The competition involves writing a mission proposal, generating design documentation, presentation and launching and releasing the SiswaSat from a certain altitude using a drone.
Out of 16 teams participated in this competition from different universities in Malaysia, only 12 teams are allowed to continue based on successful presentation of their mission proposal. Fortunately, a team of Mechanical engineering, Aerospace department is successfully selected based on their mission analysis report and presentation. Subsequently, during the seven months period of the competition, the students are successfully able to pass different phases of the design including: mission analysis, preliminary design, critical design, and testing. On September, 17, the team is successfully able to launch SiswaSat satellite safely according to competition rules and guidelines and they win the 3rd prize of RM3000 and a trophy.
