GOMBAK, 24 July 2018: IIUM held its Takrim Day 2019 today where a total of 101 awards were presented to the academic and non-academic agencies staff recognizing their efforts and contributions to the university.
Formerly known as Quality Day, the event is being held at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), where awards fell under 15 categories which are administrative staff award (13), food operator (1), DBSB staff award (4), sports award (4), mahallah award (2), community engagement award (4), research award (46), mid-year flagship award (7), best booth award (3), agency award (2), iqra’ hub award (2), reading icon award (2) academic award (9), virtual presence award (1) and best presence in print media award (1).
The IIUM Takrim Day 2019 is significant to IIUM community as this is the first official event attended by the newly appointed President of IIUM, Datuk Dr. Mohd. Daud Bakar.
In his inaugural speech as a President of IIUM, Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud bakar said that he is happy to be back here in IIUM where he served as academic staff for 16 years from 1989 to 2005.
“I feel very inspired to explore the new potential and unlock to hidden values of IIUM,” he added.
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar also commented that he believed IIUM has certainly gone through so many transformation in activities and initiatives where if an organization is still in the old style, it will be a dead wood.
Meanwhile, the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak commented that the IIUM Takrim Day 2019 is a significant event recognizing all the hard work by all IIUM staffs throughout the year.
According to the Rector, this event is not only for those who had won awards but also to celebrate everyone who is serving the university in every level and every kulliyyahs, centres, divisions, institutes and offices.
Later in his speech, the Rector also mentions that IIUM management emphasizes and promotes changes and sustainable development in line with ‘Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan’ and Maqasid Shariah.
“It is important for us to work as a family and not as a staff or student of the university. We want to create a larger family where we can share all the things that we have done together in the name of the university,” he added.
Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim from the Kulliyah of Education receives “Tokoh Akademik” award from the President of IIUM for her outstanding contribution to the academic field as the highlight of the event.***
