GOMBAK, 20 March 2018: The Director-General of Immigration Department, Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali, was appointed Adjunct Professor of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) in line with his expertise and experience in the legal profession.

The letter of appointment was given by IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin, at the “IIUM Global Forum: Premier Lecture” after Mustafar’s featured lecture on Monday.

Adjunct Professor is an honorary title given to part-time instructors ranging from experts, professionals and corporate personalities who own substantial experience in a field that allows the individual to share the knowledge with students.

Paying witness to the momentous event were top management of several universities, academicians, staff, students and several foreign emissaries from the Middle East and Pakistan.

Mustafar said, “Today, we bear witness to the impactful collaboration with an institute of higher education consisting a population of many international students. Definitely, this alliance would aid in immigration affairs and student visas.”

“We will simplify the immigration process of applying for a student visa and student pass but still maintain the national security as our main priority.”

A strategic partnership with IIUM and the Immigration Department is to enable the exchange in expertise and knowledge in organising seminars, conferences and symposiums.

Consequently, diploma courses under AIKOL will be made available to the National Immigration Department staff to enable them to pursue law degrees and continue their studies in IIUM.***
