Penganjur : OSHMO, UMP & OCD, IIUM & KAHS, IIUM & MSOSH
The objective of this seminar is to disseminate knowledge and good practices on occupational safety and health (OSH) among safety, health and environment practitioners, lecturers and students. This seminar is also a platform for participants to:
- Establish network relationships with safety, health and environment practitioners, lecturers, and students.
- Share ideas, information, suggestions and solutions on the OSH-related issues.
- Bridge the gap between research and development in universities and practices and applications in industries.
- Obtain Continuous Education Program (CEP) points that safety, health and environment practitioners may require in order to register or renew their competency certificates
This seminar will be jointly organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Management Office (OSHMO) in UMP and the Office of Campus Director (OCD) and Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS) in IIUM Kuantan, with the East Coast branch of the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) as a collaborative partner.
This seminar will discuss technical safety and occupational health issues, especially in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 that may introduce new occupational hazards. This objective of this seminar is aligned with the nation’s Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan 2016-2020 (OSHMP 2020), which outlines five key strategies for achieving three main targets:
- Reduction in mortality rate to 4.36 / 100,000 workers
- Reduction in accident rate to 2.53 / 1,000 workers
- Increase disease reporting and occupational poisoning by 30%
For example, this seminar is in line with Strategy 2 of OSHMP 2020 because the seminar
topics can empower the management of OSH in workplaces. Besides that, the seminar topics will assist in realising Program 1 (enhancing the knowledge, skills and competence of OSH practitioners), Program 3 (promotion of preventive culture) and Program 6 (increasing the number and quality of OSH practitioners). Furthermore, in line with Strategy 4, this seminar also addresses the management of occupational health in workplaces in which most OSH practitioners lack the knowledge and skills.
This seminar is expected to enhance the knowledge and skills of OSH practitioners in facing the OSH risks in the face of Industrial Revolution 4.0, where hazards may be more complex than before. Furthermore, the knowledge and skills that the OSH practitioners gain in this seminar can make them more creative and innovative to address OSH issues comprehensively and costeffectively. Students who attend this seminar will also increase their knowledge on OSH and will be an opportunity to explore job opportunities in different industries.
