Gombak, 26 November 2021. AIKOL co-organises the 18th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition (Malaysian National Rounds) 2021 with the International Committee of The Red Cross And the Red Crescent (ICRC).

In the three-day competition, there are a total of eight teams from public and private law schools in Malaysia with twenty-three law students, eight Team Coaches, about thirty Judges; and the backing of the ICRC Kuala Lumpur Delegation representatives and twenty-six law students contributing in organising the event.

The competition is a valuable opportunity for Malaysian law students to explore and expand their knowledge on International Humanitarian Law in a competitive setting with this year’s moot problem, ‘Prosecutor v Major Lydia Rodarte-Quayle. Before the International Criminal Court at the Hague’.

It is important to understand the International Humanitarian Law in this volatile world which is marked by international and domestic armed conflicts. The consequences of such armed conflict include the influx of internally displaced person and refugees in different parts of a country and countries in Asia, Africa and Europe that are grappling with the magnitude of the problem, the tragedy and the human cost.
