GOMBAK - - It was a monumental moment for IIUM when the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank Islam Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Muazzam bin Mohamed, who is an alumnus of IIUM, presented a mock cheque for RM20,000 today addressed to the university’s Endowment Fund.
“We are here to help poor Muslim students from Muslim countries in particular,” says IIUM’s Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, during the mock cheque presentation by Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad held at the conference room of the Office of Rector.
Prof. Dzulkifli explained that the university plans to utilise the funds to financially assist needy students who excel academically. This particular agenda is in line with the purpose of the university’s endowment fund founded in 1999.
Prof. Dzulkifli greatly expressed his gratitude and appreciations to Bank Islam Malaysia for their generosity and hopes to establish a long term relationship between the university and the banking institution.
In his message, the Rector also conveyed the university’s mission to ensure more international students from different countries to make headway to IIUM to fulfil one of the university’s mission at ‘internationalisation’.
The existence of the funds donated by the banking institution towards the university’s endowment fund instills hope in the Rector’s mission to assist the university in accepting bright and needy students from Muslim countries.***
