Young scientist of Persatuan Saintis Muslim Malaysia (PERINTIS), Dr Nurul Fadzlin Hasbullah from the Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has won the online reality show 'I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here' organized by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia .
Dr. Nurul Fadzlin overcomed four other finalists and won the final vote between him and Dr. Michael Ling King Hwa from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in addition to winning prizes worth RM5,000. Three other finalists were Prof Dr Wong Hin Yong (MMU), Dr. Afnizanfaizal Abdullah (UTM) and Dr Cheah Pike See (UPM) .
In this interactive reality show , students are required to ask questions and chat online with scientists finalists and voted to select their choice of scientists in the official contest website, http://utarid.ias.sciencebuzz.my/ starting on 21 October to 1 November 2013.
The program which is adapted from the reality show I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here from the United Kingdom (UK), has been running for more than four years. Its main objective is to foster students' interest in Science.
