FULL HOUSE AT SIMFONI CITRA MUZIKA FEATURING MUSICAL ENSEMBLES

GOMBAK, 14 February-- More than 2000 audience attended the concert known as Simfoni Citra Muzika with the theme Pulse of Hope held at International Cultural Centre (ICC) on Thursday.
Marked as the closing for Citra Open Day 7.0, the event was organised by Centre for International Islamic Culture (CITRA - IIUM).
The two-hour concert featured 140 musicians and performers among students who are members of societies under CITRA - IIUM.
Led by Cikgu Hamdan Adnan, the audience were amused with varieties combination of modern and traditional musical instruments.
Among the musical instruments were angklung, flute, kompang, guitar, drum, gamelan and caklempong.
The concert also highlighted the performances from solo singers as they sang evergreen renditions from different popular artists like Warisan by Sudirman, Laksamana Raja di Laut by Dato’ M. Daud Kilau and Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love together with IIUM Nafas Tari dancing team, violinist Cikgu Endang, IIUM Nasyeed Club, Sutrapawana Dikir Barat and IIUM Poetry Club.
As part of an annual event, its Programme manager,Amirul Iqmal Bin Razlan stated that he was really satisfied as this concert drawed a lot of attention.
“The whole team is pleased with the responses, I really appreciate it. Our rector, Professor Tan Sri Emeritus Dr Dzulkifli Abdul Razak was also pleased with the performance" he said.
The concert ended at 11.00 p.m. with beautifully played songs using the traditional musical instruments. Songs by Malaysian top singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza’s single Anta Permana and Sonata Musim Salju song. ***
