Gombak – International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) today launched smoke- free campus campaign to all IIUM campuses in Gombak, Gambang, Pagoh, Jalan Duta and Damansara.
The campaign officiated by the Honourable Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak during the second Al-Liqa Al-Jamaie for 2019 here in Gombak campus.
The campaign is an initiative by the university to respond to the strong effort by the Ministry of Health Malaysia to ban smoking at public places, eateries as well as public and private universities.
This campaign shows that IIUM is committed and working very hard to ensure every campus of the university to become a truly smoke-free campus.
Various initiatives and activities had been planned during the duration of the campaign which will last until December 2019.
Among the activities are organizing talks on the effect of smoking to smokers and secondhand smokers and to help those who want to quit smoking through clinical efforts.
To support the campaign, 30 staff from the Office of Security Management (OSeM) had voluntarily joined the campaign in seeking help and support from the IIUM Health and Wellness Centre recently.
