IIUM MUN Club Achievements at the BAC Model United Nations Conference 2018

IIUM Model United Nations Club has started the year with a bang by winning the Best Large Delegation Award at the Brickfields Asia College Model United Nations (BACMUN) Conference 2018. The conference was held on the 2^nd – 4^th March 2018 at Brickfields Asia College, Petaling Jaya. MUN Conference train students in negotiating and formulating solutions to global problems and current world issues, and develop skills of diplomacy in international relationship by emulating United Nations (UN) Conference. It tests student’s research, critical thinking and concentration skills.

IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON), International Islamic University Malaysia has sent a delegation of 12 delegates to compete in the conference. Each delegate will represent a country in a specified council of their choice. The councils that IIUM representatives have chosen to participate in are, United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR), League of Nations Crisis Council, Arab League and the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC). Sr. Sama Saeed (AIKOL) received the Most Outstanding Delegate Award. Four IIUM delegates won Highest Commendation Award and they are, Sr. Nurul Nadiah bt Habibu (KIRKSH), Sr Nurul Nabilah bt Habibu (AIKOL), Br. Ahmed Ahmed Mohamed (AIKOL) and Br. Tahsin Fuad Hasan (KICT). Other awards received by the delegates include, The Most Passionate Delegate, Br. Mahzoom Majid (AIKOL); The Most Diplomatic Delegate, Muhammad Aneeq Aiman Bin Roslan (KENMS); and Honourable Mention was given to Br. Samayro Saif (KAED).

Due to having the highest scores and awards in a large delegation, IIUM won the Best Large Delegation Award. Seeing their immense potential, IIUM look forward to the future development of the club members in representing IIUM at national and regional MUN conferences.
