Office of ARCOM, Kulliyyah of Languages and Management Students’ Society 2020/2021 had organized an online contest named, “Undergraduate Poster Presentation Contest” from Thursday 1st to Friday 16th April 2021. It was opened for ARCOM students at IIUM Pagoh, including the society of Arabic language at IIUM Gombak (BARB) and non-IIUM students, such as University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA), University Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), University Malaya (UM), University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and University Teknologi Mara (UiTM). The participants are given 3 options of themes for the posters, which are the Manners of communication between the lecturers and the students during the COVID-19 pandemic, How to communicate with people in the surrounding during the pandemic of COVID-19 and the Communication in sign language.
This contest is conducted to mainly provide an opportunity to the ARCOM students to enhance their skills in poster editing and to build up their confidence to talk in public. Moreover, we strongly believe that it will benefit them in terms of their fluency of the Arabic language, given that the Arabic language is rarely an intermediate language in Malaysia. In addition, one of our main objectives is to make this contest become a platform for our participants to spend their leisure time at home with beneficial activities. Hence, with organizing this contest, we are sure that their time during this virtual learning at home will not be wasted.
On 16th April 2021, we had a closing ceremony to announce the winner of the contest and had invited Dean of Kulliyyah of Languages and Management, Dr. Mohd Azrul Azlen Bin Abd Hamid to give a speech. The speech was such a full of inspiration and motivation to all the attendees that attend on the closing ceremony.
Overall, this programme was held smoothly starting from the beginning and encouraged to be conducted again in the future. This kind of programme will be a new phase of modernization for IIUM Students to be creative in their subjects’ assignment presentation.
