Malaysia SISWASAT Competition 2019
In February 2019, Malaysia SISWASAT competition which organized by Angkasa and sponsored by Sapura, was opened to higher education institutes. In this competition, the students were required to design, build, and test a SiswaSat satellite (a type of CanSat) that performs basic tasks similar to artificial satellites. The competition involves writing a mission proposal, generating design documentation, presentation and launching and releasing the SiswaSat from a certain altitude using a drone.
Out of 16 teams participated in this competition from different universities in Malaysia, only 12 teams managed to proceed to the next stage based on the pitch session earlier. Fortunately, IIUM team from Aerospace department under the Mechanical Engineering were selected based on their mission analysis report and presentation. Subsequently, during the seven months period of the competition, the students consistently passed all the phases of the design including mission analysis, preliminary design, critical design, and testing. On September 17, the team successfully launched SiswaSat satellite safely according to competition rules and guidelines and they win the 3rd prize consist of RM3000 and a trophy.***
