GOMBAK, 10 March - - Sports Development Centre (SDC) of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) launched the KPM-PST Mustangs futsal team.

The event held at Wadi Budi building, IIUM Gombak campus and attended by the Honourable Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak accompanied by Dato’ Kamel Mohamad, Deputy Secretatry General (Strategic Planning), Ministry of Education Malaysia.

The KPM-PST Mustangs team will be playing in Malaysian Premier Futsal League (MPFL) 2020 for the first time ever thus marks its own achievement to be played at such a prestigious league. The team which consisted of local students from public and private University in Malaysia will be trained by experienced coaches from different education institutions.

IIUM Indoor Arena Kuantan Campus will be the ‘Home Venue’ for KPM-PST Mustangs futsal team which recently being recognized as the first Higher Education Institution Indoor Futsal Court by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

Dato’ Kamel Mohamad commented that IIUM was given mandate by FAM as a co-organizer in assuring the smoothness of MPFL 2020 where IIUM was chosen as a Management Committee for FAM and will choose 20 volunteers from IIUM students to monitor MPFL 2020.

“I hope the Ministry, IIUM and FAM will give full commitment in sustaining and boosting the athletes’ achievements especially from higher education institutions so they can continue to excel especially in MPFL”, he added.

The KPT-PST Mustangs futsal team will be playing their first game by meeting Kelantan on 15 March 2020 at IIUM Indoor Arena Campus, Kuantan.***
