GOMBAK, 14 August 2020: IIUM is now a globally recognised institution listed among 200 universities around the world to be partnered with the United Nations, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said today.
“IIUM is somehow the best university in the year 2020 for its achievement and recognition in sustainable development,” the Rector said during his session with the Office of Deputy Rector Student Development and Community Engagement (ODRSDCE) at the Senate Hall, IIUM, Gombak campus.
The Rector emphasised the spirit of working together among offices under the Deputy Rector and to work diagonally to give impact on their projects.
In this connection, he suggested for ODRSDE to come up with a solid community engagement project which can be contested for the International Green Gown Awards next year.
“I think the issue now is on how to integrate things together so that the structure becomes a little bit clearer as to who is responsible for whom and how they work together.
The final discussion is how do you flatten the curve so that people can work together in a consistent manner by using this holacratic model of leadership,” the Rector added.
According to the Deputy Rector, Student Development and Community Engagement, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, the office will further improve its delivering functions for the benefit of the students. He said the office will plan a strategy to come up with a good community engagement programme as instructed by the Rector.
“We have identified several projects on community engagement with students involvement and will try to showcase and highlight achievement and impact, hopefully by next year we can achieve another Green Gown Awards on community engagement,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rector launched ODRSDCE’s new corporate book and handed over certificates of appreciations to all front liners under the Office of Deputy Rector, Student Development and Community Engagement, for their hard work in managing the students during the COVID-19 pandemic.***
