ULU YAM (Selangor)- A one-day programme named “Program Pendidikan Khas Intergrasi” (PPKI) was held in Nur Laman Bestari, Ulu Yam today to expose the special needs students to the external environment surrounded by nature.
The programme was organised by Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Gombak 2 (SETEGUH) in collaboration with IIUM’s Adventure and Recreational Club (ARC IIUM) and Explore Ride Atv 2019.
The programme was participated by 43 volunteers from IIUM as well as 38 special needs students from that school.
Officiating the event Gombak’s Chief Education Officer, Haji Sajoli Masdor, said this programme had prioritised special needs students to allow them to learn from outside environment surrounded by nature.
“It will also help improve their subconscious mind to handle themselves better,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Headmistress of SK Taman Seri Gombak 2, Puan Norma Shukor said, “This is the third year for us to organise such activities. We started in 2017 when special needs students climbed the Broga Hill and one of the students without legs managed to reach the top. In 2018, the kids were brought to SkyTrex Shah Alam where two of the students managed to finish the longest flying fox. This year we brought the students to ride ATV with volunteers from IIUM.”
The special needs students were welcomed by the volunteers with colourful balloons and big smiles. ***
