Family Law Research Unit (FAME) AIKOL has successfully organized a workshop on ‘Is Physical Discipline Necessary in Educating Children, Proposing Legal guidelines for Educating and Disciplining Children on 17th July 2019, Wednesday from 8.30am to 1 pm. The objectives of the workshop are;
- To discuss legal issues surrounding physical disciplining and educating children in the society
- To provide basic understanding on disciplining and educating children in legal framework
- To propose guidelines on disciplining and educating children both in Islamic, Civil, education and psychological Perspectives
The speaker for the workshop were as follow:
- Session 1: Disciplining and educating children : Guidelines Under Islamic Law delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr Nasimah Husin, AIKOL, IIUM
- Session 2 : Disciplining and educating Children : Guidelines under Civil law delivered by Dr Farah Nini Dusuki, Faculty of Law, University of Malaya
- Disciplining and educating Children : Guidelines based on Psychological Perspectives Assoc. Prof. Dr Zubaidah Jamil Osman, Programme Coordinator, Master of Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences
- Session 4: Disciplining and educating Children : Guidelines based on Educational Psychology Perspectives, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mastura Badzis, Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling, Kulliyyah of Education, IIUM
