Expert Profile


Ahmad Fadzil Ismail took up employment as a Telecommunication Engineer at Electroscon Sdn Bhd after completing his undergraduate studies in the United States back in 1994. His undertakings included supervision of GSM base stations' installations as well as managing the commissioning of ATM equipment coupled with the backbone fiber-optic cable setting-ups. One year after the completion of his Ph.D studies in UK, he returned to Malaysia and secured employment as the R&D General Manager at AMP Corporation Sdn Bhd. He received diverse technical training from renowned OEMs. Lockheed Martin of USA, Rohde & Schwarz and Barco of Germany, Havelsan of Turkey, as well as Ukrainian and Finnish manufacturers. He is a specialist engineer well-versed with elements pertaining to cutting-edge radar design and configuration, Electronic Warfare systems, Military-spec ICT Radio Communication and Data Networking Constitutions.
Ahmad joined IIUM in 2006. Between 2008 and 2011, whilst managing lectures, he also supervised, performed installations and commissioning of the Integrated Communication Systems for 4 Kedah-Class Royal Malaysian Navy's Next Generation Patrol Vessels; KD Perak, KD Terengganu, KD Kelantan and KD Selangor at Boustead naval shipyard in Lumut, Perak. He was appointed as the Deputy Dean of IIUM's Research Management Centre November 2013. Ahmad heads the Innovation and Commercialization Office where his assignments include facilitations of IIUM's researchers on matters related to solutions' commercialization, intellectual properties, pre-commercialize grants management, product exhibitions as well as competitions.
