Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Chik graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Faculty of Arts, Kuwait University and Master of Arts from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and Doctor of Philosophy from Faculty of Arts, University of Alexandria, Egypt. He was admitted to the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs, State of Kuwait as an Administrative officer (1980 until 1984) and thereafter, he joined the Language Centre of International Islamic University Malaysia in 1984. In 1990 he was transferred to the newly established Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) as Founding Head of Department of Arabic Language and Literature. He has been in various academic administrative posts more than 30 years in Malaysia (UM and IIUM) and Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as Head of Department, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, DD for Academic Affairs, DD for Language Centre, DD for Inter-Disciplinary Studies and Human Development, Dean for Student Affairs, and Dean for General Affairs, as well as Director of IIUM International Sdn. Bhd. of IIUM Holdings.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences since 2009. Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Chik was seconded to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (1998-2004) and then invited visiting fellow at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2010. Further, he was appointed as an expert and advisor for the programmes of TASL and Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) programmes at Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor (KUIS) and then an Academic Fellow of the ISESCO-Malaysia based at KUIS since 2015. He was conferred World Scholars Recognition by World Arab Translators and Linguists Association (WATA) in 2008 and the Ismail Faruqi Best Book Award by IIUM in 2013. He is actively involved in social and educational activities with NGOs, public and private sectors such as Arabic Language Society Malaysia (PBAM), Persatuan Ulama Malaysia (PUM), Ahli Lembaga Pengurusan Sekolah Agama Integrasi Al-Mujahideen, dan Nazir Masjid Al-Mujahideen. His international involvement in professional bodies includes: International League of Islamic Literature based in Riyadh (life membership), and World Federation of Arab-Islamic International Schools (WFAIIS), an OIC affiliated organization, as Chairman of Malaysian Office. He has been elected as Founding President of International League of Islamic Literature Malaysia (PPM-023-10-10022016) since 2016. He is also a founding member and Vice President of International Association of Muslim E-Book Writers.
