Raja Permaisuri Agong grants audience to IIUM top management

GOMBAK, 7 September 2020: The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today granted an audience to IIUM Top Management at the Senate Hall, IIUM Gombak campus.
Tunku Azizah, who was accompanied by her daughter, Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Jihan Azizah ‘Athiyatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah and her niece, Tengku Ameera Asya Ibni Tengku Abdul Rahman Al Haj, arrived at 11.00am.
The President of IIUM, Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar and Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak along with the university’s top management were on hand to receive the royal entourage.
Tunku Azizah spent some time to visit exhibition showcasing the works of students and staffs on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Project and IIUM Medibot before having a meeting with the IIUM top management.
Tunku Azizah then attended a luncheon with the university’s top management before proceeding to the IIUM Gallery, where she was briefed on IIUM’s history and operations.
The royal entourage later visited IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF) to find out more on the courses available at the Institute for her niece, who is interested in the said field of study. The Queen ended her visit at the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) to see the kulliyyah’s projects and had a light conversation with the students.
Tunku Azizah is the first woman to be appointed as the Constitutional Head of IIUM for a term of five years, effective from 12 April 2019.
The post was formerly held by the fifth Sultan of Pahang, the late Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mu’adzam Shah who passed away on 22 May.**
