GOMBAK, 29 July 2020: The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) can come out with a set of modules to further expand their contributions to appeal more to the community, IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said.
He urged the kulliyyah to think beyond their current capability and standard to reach out as people are expecting more from AIKOL in terms of their legal and shariah function.
“I think there’s a higher expectation for AIKOL to translate the idea of the late Ahmad Ibrahim into something that all of us can benefit, particularly on the question of injustice and unfairness, so that the legal function becomes a need for us to understand.”
The Rector was making his strategic tour of the campus when he visited AIKOL today. He highlighted how IIUM could move forward and become known to the world through sustainable development in attaining the university’s mission and vision.
“I am happy with the participation from today’s session and I hope that we can sit down and map out what we need to do in moving forward,” the Rector added.
Meanwhile, the Dean of AIKOL, Prof. Dr. Farid Sufian Shuaib, said this is an occasion to focus on the direction of the university in achieving its mission and vision together with that set by the kulliyyah.
The Dean later shared what AIKOL had been doing in the past 24 months, which include creating the Whole Institution Transformation (WIT) module where the integration of the vision and mission of IIUM with AIKOL could be realised.
“In AIKOL, what we understood about humanising the education is how to make education not only closer to the students but also to the community,” the Dean said.
“We will emphasise cooperation in community services in our curriculum by increasing the number of forces which will enable students to work closely with the community,” he added.***
