Expert Profile
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asan Gani bin Abdul Muthalif obtained his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering from IIUM. He earned his Ph.D from University of Cambridge (Dynamics and Vibration Research Group), UK in 2008. Upon completing his PhD, he continued his post-doctoral research for a year in Cambridge University. During this period, he also served as a teaching assistant at the university. He has experience in teaching at high-school and engineering colleges for 16 years (92-09) and at universities for 15 years (since 2000).
He has authored and co-authored publications in international and local refereed journals and conferences. He has acquired a number of research projects/grants as a principal and co-investigator. Recently (January 2015), his FRGS project (PI) was selected as the Best FRGS by Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and awarded RM 250,000 for the extension work. As of June 2015, he has managed more than RM 1.4 million research grants as a principle and co-researcher. He has nine Ph.D and 24 Masters students (graduated and on-going) as the main and co-supervisors. He is currently the Deputy Dean (Academic), Kulliyyah of Engineering and Assoc. Prof. at Dept. of Mechatronics Engineering.
