Expert Profile
Dr. Awis received his B.Sc (Hons) in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) in 2008. He then pursued and received his Master's degree in Chemistry from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2012, thanks to the UKM Zamalah Scheme scholarship. After completing his Master's degree, he was awarded the highly competitive SLAB/SLAI scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. at University College London's School of Pharmacy (UCL).
Dr. Awis is enthusiastic about pharmaceutical formulation and analytical chemistry. His primary focus is on drug delivery and 3D printing. He has several articles published in high-impact journals and has won several awards in innovation competitions.
Dr. Awis was the Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 2021 to 2023. He is a registered chemist and the current Chairman of Institut Kimia Malaysia (Pahang branch), as well as a council member of Institut Kimia Malaysia since 2021, and a Titular Member of IUPAC for 2024-2025 under Division VII (Chemistry & Human Health).
